Today marks the forty-fifth anniversary of the homicide of Vincent “Hank” Pius Griffin
On June 30, 1981, at approximately 8:05 a.m., police responded to a report that there was a vehicle left running in front of 2454 John Street in Halifax with a man slumped across the front seat. Officers found 43-year-old Vincent Griffin deceased in his vehicle. Vincent’s vehicle, a maroon 1977 dodge two-door hardtop, had been observed in the area shortly after midnight.
Investigators believe that there are people who have information that could help solve Vincent’s homicide. Investigators hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. The smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.
The Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case and encourages anyone with information to contact police at 902-490-5020.
Vincent’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. Callers must contact the Rewards Program at 1-888-710-9090, must provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.
