Halifax Regional Police responded to 731 calls for service over the weekend. Some notable incidents are as follows:
Police lay robbery charges
On March 27 at approximately 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery that occurred at High Mart, located at 5512 Spring Garden Road in Halifax. Staff reported that a man, who had previously been prohibited from the premises, was inside the store placing merchandise into a bag. The man then threatened staff and fled the scene on foot with the merchandise. Staff were not physically injured.
On March 28, officers located the suspect on Gottingen Street and arrested him without incident.
Anthony Bruno Bruneau-Desjardins, 24, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face a charge of robbery.

Police lay weapons related charges
On March 27 at approximately 7:45 p.m., police responded to a weapons call at Sliceplus Convenience and Pizzeria, located at 6169 Quinpool Road in Halifax. Staff reported that a man entered the business with a machete, but did not threaten anyone with it.
Officers located and arrested the suspect on scene, without incident and seized the machete. There were no reports of physical injuries.
A 19-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:
- Mischief
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Carrying a concealed weapon

Police lay robbery charges
On March 28 at approximately 8:05 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, located at 210 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. Staff reported that a woman stole product and when confronted by staff, the woman assaulted a staff member. Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident.
Jenna Smith, 31, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Robbery
- Theft under $5000.00
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
- Failure to comply with probation order (x2)
