Traffic signal operations change – Intersection of Lacewood, Parkland and Regency Park drives
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of changes to signal operations at the intersection of Lacewood, Parkland and Regency Park drives.

Time: 6 p.m. to midnight
Work details: This is to facilitate traffic signal operation changes.
Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in this area while these traffic signal changes are being made. During this time, drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Changes to traffic signal operations: The intersection will be modified to operate with fully protected left turns from the Lacewood Drive approaches, meaning drivers can no longer turn left on these approaches without the flashing green left arrow. On the flashing green arrow, drivers are able to complete left turns free of any other traffic or pedestrian conflicts. The flashing green arrow will switch to an amber light to warn drivers that the left-turn phase is ending, followed by a red light to indicate that the left-turn phase has ended.
This change resulted from in-service safety assessments of the intersection which recommended fully protected left turn phasing as an option to address potential left turn conflict with pedestrians and with other vehicles. This change supports the municipality’s Road Safety Strategy, which aims to reduce fatal and injury collisions on municipal roadways. Répercussions sur la circulation : La circulation sera discontinue dans ce secteur pendant que ces changements sont apportés aux feux de circulation. Pendant ce temps, les conducteurs doivent s’attendre à des ralentissements et sont priés d’emprunter d’autres itinéraires dans la mesure du possible.
Changements apportés aux feux de circulation : L’intersection sera modifiée pour fonctionner avec des virages à gauche entièrement protégés à partir de Lacewood Drive, ce qui signifie que les conducteurs ne peuvent plus tourner à gauche à partir de ces approches sans la flèche verte clignotante. Quand la flèche verte clignote, les conducteurs peuvent effectuer des virages à gauche sans autre conflit avec la circulation ou les piétons. La flèche verte clignotante passera au jaune afin d’avertir les conducteurs que la phase de virage à gauche prend fin, puis au rouge pour indiquer que la phase de virage à gauche est terminée.
Ce changement est le résultat d’évaluations de la sécurité du service à l’intersection, qui ont recommandé des phases de virage à gauche entièrement protégées comme option pour régler les conflits potentiels de virage à gauche avec les piétons et d’autres véhicules.
