Municipal Food Action

JustFOOD Action Plan for the Halifax Region

Municipal food action is guided by the JustFOOD Action Plan, a long-range strategy created in partnership with the JustFOOD Halifax Network (formerly the Halifax Food Policy Alliance) and built on a decade of collaborative community and partner engagement to develop grown in Halifax actions.

In March of 2023, Regional Council approved Part A to guide our collective work to improve food security and strengthen our local food system, with clear roles for all and the resources needed for positive change. Part B, approved in February 2024, created strategies to establish the building blocks required to implement the Action Plan.

Check out the JustFOOD Milestones document for a timeline and links to the key reports, presentations, and founding documents at the heart of this decade and a half collective action
